Taylor James Pixley, 72, of Great Barrington

Mr. Pixley was a 2nd class Petty Officer with the Navy Seabeeā€™s. Upon his return to Great Barrington he began working at Joe Wilkinson Construction.

Taylor James Pixley, 72, died October 14, 2016 at Fairview Commons.

Born on April 12, 1944 in Great Barrington, he was the son of Gordon and Edith Cottrell Pixley.Ā Ā  He attended local schools after which he worked for the Pittsfield Milk Exchange. He then accepted a job with Marshal Gaston Construction. Taylor enjoyed working construction and began his own company, Taylor Pixley Land Maintenance and Excavation.

Mr. Pixley was a 2nd class Petty Officer with the Navy Seabeeā€™s. Upon his return to Great Barrington he began working at Joe Wilkinson & Sons Excavating Co. as a heavy equipment operator until his retirement in 2014.

Taylor loved old cars, boating and fishing. He also enjoyed attending car shows.

He is survived by his three children Taylor Jr. and his wife Debbie, Trevor and his wife Melissa, and Elizabeth Ann Pixley, as well as his seven grandchildren: Michael, Aaron, Nicole, Josey, Trent, Jessica and Makenzie. He is also survived by his five brothers; Jerry, David, Paul, Peter and John.

He was predeceased by his parents.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, October 22, 2016 at 11 a.m. at the Stockbridge Town Cemetery with Rev. Jill Graham officiating.

Friends and family are welcome to gather on Friday, March 21, at 1 p.m., at the Monterey UCC Church, for a memorial. Afterwards, a reception will be held at the Monterey Community Center, from about 2 to 4 p.m., to spend some time together.
