Gloria was a talented seamstress and worked at the Housatonic Curtain Company for over 20 years until she retired in 2008.

Louise Brazie, 82, of Housatonic

She worked at the former DeSisto School as a cook and counselor as well as running its honors program.

Parker G. Oppermann, 83, of Great Barrington and Lenox

He was an excellent cook and baker, learning that skill by helping his mother at church suppers.

Elizabeth ‘Betty’ Naventi, 88, of West Stockbridge

Betty then worked for Lee Automotive as a bookkeeper, retiring in 2009 after 26 years.

Pauline Negrini, 90, of West Stockbridge

Pauline enjoyed playing bingo with her friends, reading, doing word searches, baking and making homemade jams.

Edward M. Comstock, 87, of West Stockbridge, retired Berkshire Hills teacher

Edward Comstock was an owner and trainer of Thoroughbred racehorses and raced throughout New England, including at the Barrington Fair and Green Mountain racetracks.

Arthur ‘Artie’ J. Astore, 86, of Housatonic

Arthur was also a pilot at the Great Barrington Airport, one of Walt Koladza’s best pilots.

Elaine S. Gunn, 86, of Great Barrington, educator and active church member

Elaine went to NYU, completed her education at North Adams State and became a teacher. She taught third grade at Bryant Elementary School in Great Barrington. She went back to school and earned her M.Ed. at North Adams State.

John H. Spencer Jr., 80, of Stockbridge, beloved and respected teacher, active in town government

Jack Spencer was chair of the Monument Social Studies department from its inception in 1967. The department created the first Holocaust curriculum for high school students in the country.

David Allan Hawkins, 75, of Stockbridge

He educated himself and climbed the ladder through Mead Specialty Paper in South Lee, retiring from his position as Environmental Engineer 35 years later.

Florence E. Andrews, 93, of Stockbridge

Mrs. Andrews worked at the Stockbridge Pharmacy for 27 years prior to her retirement in 1984. Florence was an active member of St. Paul’s Parish, serving on its vestry and alter guild.

William Thomas Price, 78, of Stockbridge, Norman Rockwell’s barber

He opened a barbershop on Main Street in Stockbridge which is featured in Norman Rockwell’s Main Street at Christmas (“Home for Christmas,” 1967).

Susan Jane Pevzner, 66, of Great Barrington, owner of Jack’s Country Squire

Sue will be remembered for her exceptionally kind, gracious and generous spirit. Her calming presence will be deeply missed by her family, friends and to many in the downtown community.

Dorothy L. Cronin, 87, of Great Barrington

Dorothy enjoyed baseball, bingo, knitting, baking and especially trips to Foxwoods and Atlantic City.

Rino Peter Delmolino, 101, of West Stockbridge

Rino was the first real estate guy in West Stockbridge where he sold the Square Rigger now known as The Shaker Mill Tavern.
