Relay for Life of Berkshire County returns on June 28

Last year, the event was held outside at Monument Mountain's track. However, four hours into the event, a microburst storm hit the track, destroying the event area. This year, event organizer Ray Gardino told The Berkshire Edge they are not taking any chances and will hold the event indoors.

Smoke Signals from the Swamp: Comey on Comey in ‘A Higher Loyalty’

Critical reviews of “A Higher Loyalty” are easy to find. Instead, I’m going to offer some excerpts many critics have neglected—reminiscences that reveal why James Comey has become the man he is, providing perspective about why he responded the way he did to the Clinton email investigation and the improper demands of Donald Trump.

Vira Vira Equinox

America doesn’t have a national dance. Perhaps it should be the limbo.

BOOK REVIEW: ‘Russian Roulette: The Inside Story of Putin’s War on America and the Election of Donald Trump’ by Michael Isikoff and David Corn

Isikoff and Corn try to answer an essential question: Why is Trump so enamored of Putin? So willing to turn a blind eye to Russia’s efforts to sabotage American democracy, so unwilling to strike back when he continually brags about his commitment to answer every blow with 10?

Smoke Signals from the Swamp: The Son-in-Law

With all the talk about the varied skills of Corey Lewandoski, Paul Manafort and Steve Bannon, who took turns steering the Trump campaign, many were surprised by the title of the Nov. 22, 2016, Forbes article: “How Jared Kushner Won Trump the White House.”

A NOVEL: ‘Over the Edge,’ Chapter 3

How can you figure out the truth when everyone is lying, and sometimes they don’t even know they’re lying?

POEM: Lyrics for ‘The Oval Office Exit Song’

The president’s men are lining up, waiting to see who’s next in line to follow the norms out the window and crash-land on the White House lawn.

Smoke Signals from the Swamp: The fall of Flynn

General Flynn is inextricably woven into the story of Donald Trump and Russia. And nothing reveals the important role he has played more clearly than the efforts President Trump made to convince FBI Director James Comey not to dig too deeply into what Flynn might have done.

REVIEW: Al Gore returns with ‘An Inconvenient Sequel,’ seeking solutions to climate meltdown

An Inconvenient Sequel: Truth to Power is currently playing at Images Cinema in Williamstown. See www.imagescinema.org for show times. On Thursday, Sept. 7, Elizabeth Kolbert, author of “The Sixth Extinction,” will speak between the two showings of the film. Sponsored by the Williams College Center for Environmental Studies.

CONNECTIONS: The way it used to be

Perhaps we could gain a better understanding of the Trump White House and the characters therein by imagining them as 5 year olds.
