When he appeared at the Mahaiwe a year ago, anyone in the audience could see why The Seattle Times has called Pizzarelli “a rare entertainer of the old school.”
Always one to give back to the community, he gave of his time as a bell ringer for the Salvation Army and a love of Broadway was fulfilled as a volunteer usher in many theatres throughout the Berkshires.
He enlisted in the U.S. Army in August 1942, served as a military policeman in Italy, and was awarded the European African Middle Eastern Service Medal.
