THEATER REVIEW: ‘Shucked’ plays at Proctors Theatre in Schenectady, N.Y., through March 23

“Shucked” sounds as though it will be a hokey, silly show, but instead it turns out to be a remarkably charming two and a half hours of light musical theater.

THEATRE REVIEW: Oldcastle’s ‘Judevine’ an effective and affecting play about small-town life

The joy in watching these six actors comes from the wonderful differences they are able to bring to every character they portray.

THEATRE REVIEW: Oldcastle Theatre’s ‘Brighton Beach Memoirs’ features excellent, consistent company

It takes an act and a half to realize that the story Eugene Jerome is telling is less his own and more his mother's story. That revelation came to me with this production—the fifth time I've seen the play.

THEATRE REVIEW: Oldcastle Theatre Company’s ‘Red’ brings true humanity, keen realism

The director's work is remarkable but perhaps it is his familiarity with this actor that allows such communication to hold onto the character they have jointly created.

THEATRE REVIEW: Oldcastle Theatre Company’s ‘The Fourth Wall’ funny, entertaining, incredulous

It was a nice diversion played so well, and not a play I would have wanted to miss.

THEATRE REVIEW: ‘The Whipping Man’ at Oldcastle Theatre Company is fast-moving, emotional

Covering three days and nights, the play needs to keep its audience off-balance, and the director and actors do that without artifice and it makes a lot of sense.

REVIEW: Oldcastle’s ‘Broadway Bound,’ a fine tribute to Neil Simon

As a season-ender for Oldcastle, this is a winner production of an excellent play.

THEATRE REVIEW: Shipwrecked! An Entertainment. The Amazing Adventures of Louis de Rougemont (As Told By Himself)

"Shipwrecked!...." is a fine example of how an audience can be given more than it can handle and still come out feeling all right.

THEATRE REVIEW: ‘The Consul, the Tramp, and America’s Sweetheart,’ poignantly relevant, finely conceived

New plays are a wonder to behold and this one is almost as good as the movie at its core. This excellent new play is a comedy that tugs at the mind's heart more than at the heart's mind.
