The monument and park were built to commemorate what Thomas Reed, who now lives in Tennessee but grew up on Boardman Street, calls an “off-world incident.”
Selectman Martin Mitsoff confirmed to The Edge that the town removed the monument and that the portion of the park on the town right-of-way had been reclaimed.

“The town doesn’t have a problem with anything but the location of the monument. People can’t just put monuments on town property without board approval.”
