CONNECTIONS: The unspeakable climate

It is interesting to contemplate that weather is blamed for the demise of the Vikings, the French Revolution and the bubonic plague. It is also interesting that the founding of this country, the creation of our Constitution, the Civil War, American industrialization and our Gilded Age all happened against a backdrop of extreme cold and global climate change.

Marie Judd, 92, of Lenox

After raising their family in Staten Island, they purchased the Village Inn in Lenox in 1970 and became successful innkeepers, entertaining guests until its sale in 1984.

Michael Platt, 58, of Great Barrington

He learned to ride horses at Blue Rider Stables, participated in art classes at Community Access to the Arts and eurhythmy classes at Christ Trinity Church, and worked three afternoons a week at the weavery at Stanton House.

At home and on his morning off on September 11th 2001 he reported to his precinct in East Harlem  and then onto the World Trade Center. From September 11th, 2001 until January of 2002 he worked at the World Trade Center site.
