Nobel Prize Winners . . . some dynamite poetry

Alfred Nobel (1833-1896), the inventor of dynamite, was a chemist, engineer, businessman and, most memorably, philanthropist; he was also a scholar, fluent in Russian, French, English and German. Above all, he loved poetry.

James ‘Bud’ Wells, 94, of Lenox

After Lenox School closed and became Bordentown School, Bud remained for a bit but moved on to take a job as a shipping assembler for Lenox Machine until 1988, when he could not resist his neverending urge to just travel and to play golf every day that he possibly could.

Ann Underwood, 94, of Lenox, retired Berkshire Country Day School librarian

Having inaugurated in 1969 and developed the school library from one box of books to a collection of over 10,000 volumes, Mrs. Underwood served as school librarian at Berkshire Country Day School for 30 years.
