She taught church school, was a tutor at the Pittsfield Adult Learning Center; and was on the board of directors for the historical society and Berkshire Sanctuaries, where she was also a field guide and gatekeeper.
She found true joy in the service of others, from creating delicious meals to serving her community, Lenox schools, and Trinity and St. Helena’s churches.
Since several initiatives raised more funds than were necessary to accomplish its goals, the Lenox 250th Anniversary Committee decided to donate the excess to organizations that will directly assist Lenox residents.
An accomplished athlete, Richard achieved the remarkable by competing in all (40) Josh Billings triathlons to date; ran the Boston Marathon for several years, played golf regularly, cross-country skied, and loved canoeing the Housatonic River.
In 1767, official incorporation of a town required sanction from the Congregational Church. New England villages partnered with the church to form their governments.
