John began his insurance career with companies in Newark, New Jersey, and in Boston and later joined the Wheeler & Taylor agency in Great Barrington. He served as its president from 1976 until his retirement in 1985.
David West graduated from the Massachusetts Police Academy and proudly served on the Sheffield Police Department in the 1970s and early '80s. He was also a 28-year member of the Sheffield Fire Department and an EMT.
In 1957, the family moved to Sheffield where they owned and operated the Undermountain Orchards in Sheffield and later the Sheffield Flower and Garden Shop and Sheffield Landscape Contracting.
Incumbent Andrew Petersen replaced Rene Wood, who, in 2015, opted not to run for re-election. Now Wood has decided to try to get back on the Selectboard again.
