Ruth Martin, 92, of Sheffield

She rode her motorcycle with and was an auxiliary member of the Blue Knights International Law Enforcement Motorcycle Association for more than 25 years.

Elsie West, 96, of Sheffield

Elsie’s true love was, first and foremost, the First Congregational Church, Old Parish Church, in Sheffield. She was a member for 77 years.

Anne Rae Thomson Hyatt, 83, of Sheffield

One of her greatest joys in life was being a grandmother at which she excelled.

Helen E. Johnston, 78, of Sheffield

Upon retirement she served as a private health aide for seniors and was a member of the Sheffield Council on Aging as well as an active volunteer at the senior center.

Richard Armstrong, 88, of Sheffield

Richard Armstrong was the former vice president and general manager of Sheffield Plastics for many years.

Loet Velmans, 93, of Sheffield, author, journalist, prisoner of war, public relations pioneer

Upon retiring to the Berkshires Velmans wrote Long Way Back to the River Kwai, a war memoir detailing his adventurous escape from the Nazis and his imprisonment by the Japanese.

Richard M. Boardman, 82, former Sheffield selectman

Richard was dedicated to the town he lived in and worked tirelessly for them for over 40 years. He was the own of Sheffield’s Animal Inspector, the Dog Officer; he served on the Board of Health and was a former Selectman.
