Local author and polio survivor, Karen Chase, shared her experiences with a new generation. addressing an Advanced Placement Language and Composition Class at Monument Mountain Regional High School.
When a sufficient percentage of the community has been vaccinated, the entire community is protected. We have now fallen below that point with measles, and we are approaching that point with polio.
Polio is something I never talked to anyone about. Since the age of 10 I’ve not had this conversation with another person who’s had polio.
