New England ratepayers paid $3.6 billion more for electricity due to capacity withholding. The utilities appear to have had an additional motive for withholding gas. Not only did the practice raise rivals’ costs in the electric generation market, but the artificially created gas shortages and high energy prices also lent credibility to the arguments for natural gas pipelines.

The gas giant Kinder Morgan had just sucked half a million gallons of water from this state-protected pond to flush out their pipes.

State Sen. Adam Hinds: "If anybody's learned anything from this election, it's that elections have consequences – serious policy consequences. They are absolutely gutting the EPA at a rate that even the most pessimistic person would be surprised about right now." Hinds was also sharply critical of the state in allowing the pipeline project to move through the Otis State Forest, which is state-owned land ostensibly protected from development.

When hauled off in a sheriff’s cruiser for trespassing she was asked how many times she’s been arrested, “Not enough” she boomed to the forest and the birds.

Earlier in the day. Sugar Shack had been staging what it called the Funeral for the Age of Fossil Fuel by carrying a coffin out onto Tennessee Gas Pipeline’s easement.

BPHC’s letter comes as the Massachusetts Association of Health Boards also calls on Gov. Baker to consider the documented hazards and potential risks of the production, transmission and burning of fracked natural gas.

A poem upon the occasion of citizens being arrested for standing in the way of a fracked natural gas pipeline conveying climate change.

Dozens of State Police troopers and private security guards hired by Tennessee Gas Pipeline, a subsidiary of energy giant Kinder Morgan, stood watch.

Seventy-four city and town conservation commissions across Massachusetts have urged Gov. Charlie Baker to drop his support for fracked gas pipelines.

The $3.2 billion pipeline construction cost, cited frequently by the proponents, excludes other significant costs such as operations, maintenance, depreciation and return on equity, making the full cost $6.6 billion.

In their legal filing to the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection the complaint of the Citizens alleges that “the proposed pipeline would permanently degrade and impair water uses and quality for waters located at the heart of [8,500 acres] of interconnected, valuable open space.”
