THE OTHER SIDE: Witches burning (Part One)

As we have learned over the centuries, when it comes to burning witches, it doesn’t really matter if you have burned a real witch or just someone who, in your fevered, partisan, and paranoid imagination, could easily become a witch in the future. It is the burning that is the message.

Francis ‘Ike’ Roraback, 83, of Great Barrington

Ike worked for Pfizer in Canaan, Connecticut, for 40 years before retiring in 1994.

Harold O. Davis, 80, of Mill River

A 35-year employee of Mineral Technology, formerly Pfizer, in Canaan, Connecticut, Davis retired in 1995.

Bernard Daniel Litchfield Jr., 78, former chief of New Marlborough Fire Department

Dan always found a haven from the trials and tribulations of life at the local fire station with his fellow firefighters.

Rev. William H. Grady, 80, of Ashley Falls, Mass.

Some of William's stories of growing up in Georgia and learning to read and write later in life can be heard at the national archives.

Norman Parrish Kellogg, 90, of Great Barrington

He graduated from Searles High School in 1942 and served his country during World War II. Norman entered the Army Air Force in 1942, was trained in aviation mechanics and served as a Crew Chief. Norman worked the majority of his life for over 40 years as an electrician for Pfizer in Canaan, Conn., and Schweitzer-Mauduit in Lee, Mass., retiring in 1988.
