Hollis yearned to serve her friends and neighbors by joining the New Marlborough Volunteer Fire and Rescue Team, where she held the distinction of being the first female firefighter in the history of that department.
He served as constable for the town of New Marlborough, was a member of the New Marlborough Finance Committee, the Umpachene Falls Park Commission, a former moderator for the town and a former member of the New Marlborough Volunteer Fire Department.
