As we have learned over the centuries, when it comes to burning witches, it doesn’t really matter if you have burned a real witch or just someone who, in your fevered, partisan, and paranoid imagination, could easily become a witch in the future. It is the burning that is the message.
The inaugural concert in the West Stockbridge Historical Society’ jazz concert series, the Aug. 3 performance will feature selections from Larry Grenadier’s recently released solo album “The Gleaners.”
“Common Ground: A celebration of Jazz and Jewish Music” will benefit Clinton Church Restoration’s effort to restore and repurpose the historic Clinton A.M.E. Zion Church as an African-American heritage site, visitor center and community space.
But the ban on Sunday racing wasn't imposed by the town, or even the state. Rather, it's the result of a court injunction issued in 1959, only a couple of years after the track was built from the remnants of an old gravel pit.
