The independent bookstore is known for offering an eclectic collection of new, used, rare, antiquarian, and out-of-print books, complemented by clever displays.
In 1984, he and his wife moved to the Berkshires and established Vollmer’s Antiques in Ashley Falls. In 1993, he and his son Devin opened the Spirit Shoppe in South Egremont.
