On Friday, Oct. 28, crews stationed at every toll plaza location along I-90 will begin setting up the new traffic patterns, pavement markings, and electronic message boards for the initial stage of toll plaza demolition.

During construction, the Bridge Street bridge in Great Barrington will be limited to one lane of alternating traffic. Accommodations for pedestrians will be in place. Completion of the project is anticipated to be in the spring of 2017.

Unlike the monoculture problem of the Bradford pears, no more than 10 of any given species will create a wide diversity. Even some American elms are coming to town, too, and will take majestic gateway positions.
Water supplied to schools is generally free of lead, but lead can be introduced into drinking water through plumbing and fixtures in buildings, especially in facilities more than 20 years old.
Lyme disease cases continue to be high in southern Berkshire County, at a case rate of over 500 cases per 100,000 population. Berkshire County also has the second-highest rate in Massachusetts for the tick-borne coinfection anaplasmosis.
The Harvest Supper is returning for a third year to the Upper Lodge at Ski Butternut. Nearly three dozen Berkshire Grown member chefs and local beverage producers will be on hand.
When work will be begin on repairing the Bridge Street span, and what restrictions on traffic will be imposed during the repairs has yet to be determined. Bridge Street provides access to the east side of Great Barrington and is a busy bypass during the Main Street Reconstruction Project that is just getting under way.
