The Southern Berkshire Chamber of Commerce has compiled the schedule of construction work on the Main Street Reconstruction Project for the week of Monday, August 17 through Friday, August 21.
The $5.4 million Main Street Reconstruction in Great Barrington is ahead of schedule, according to the DOT, with sidewalks and pavements to be completed by winter, and new trees planted this fall. The project, however, is “close” to its budget.

On Monday and Tuesday Maxymillian will be laying stone from Castle to Elm Street.
Paving of the core should begin on Wednesday, May 13. Street light and traffic light conduit work will continue along the edge of the road from Castle to Elm Street.

According to the Southern Berkshire Chamber of Commerce’s (SBCC) construction update, there might be “traffic shifts” depending on the scope of the work.
The long anticipated Main Street Reconstruction Project will get under way on Monday, March 23, at 7 a.m. sharp, when Maxymillian will begin working between Bridge and Church Streets on the east side of Main Street.
The Spot Saver parking program is designed to ease Main Street Reconstruction pain when construction begins in late March. A launch party will be held this Wednesday (February 25) at Castle Street Cafe at 5 p.m.
'Our contractor, JH Maxymillian, is planning on installing construction signs next week, and could begin work during the week of July 14.'
