The moon has been an important subject in English poetry dating back to Chaucer in the 14th century, who was an astronomer as well as a poet. There is a crater on the far side of the moon named for Chaucer.
A Pittsfield native, as well as an alumnus of Pittsfield High School and Berkshire Music School, where he studied under Jean Stackhouse, Çelebi will head into his fourth year this fall at the Oberlin Conservatory of Music.
Volunteers in Medicine Berkshires (VIM) has received a $6,000 quality of life grant from the Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation. The award will be used to help pay for an electric wheelchair lift at VIM’s newly expanded clinic.
