In his 25 years of leading Shakespeare & Company’s renowned Center for Actor Training, Dennis mentored and taught more than 5,000 actors and students from across the country and around the world. His legacy of innovative actor training methods, quick wit, spirit of generosity and depth of thought will be carried on through the artists, teachers and students with whom he collaborated.
Students have the opportunity to develop skills in stage combat, performance aesthetics, dance, technical theater, costuming, stage management, marketing and publicity during the Fall Festival experience.
Students are encouraged to delve into Shakespeare’s works, unpack the language and savor the humor, intensity and transcendent beauty of Shakespeare’s plays.
The 2017 Jacob's Pillow Dance Festival program directors include ballet luminary Anna-Marie Holmes; noted master teacher Milton Myers; Broadway choreographer/director Chet Walker; and choreographer, performer, MacArthur Genius Fellow, and Jacob’s Pillow Dance Award recipient Michelle Dorrance.
An annual tradition, the Fall Festival is the culmination of the nationally recognized program that places Shakespeare & Company education artists in 10 local and regional schools where they lead students in a nine-week exploration of Shakespeare’s plays.
The Stockbridge Sinfonia, a community orchestra in existence for over 40 years, is conducted by Simeon Loring and comprised of volunteer musicians of all ages, from high school students to retired local residents.
Shakespeare & Company’s Education Director Kevin Coleman is a 2016 Tony Award Finalist for Excellence in Theatre Education. “Creativity is our birthright. All art gives us insights into ourselves, keys to our own creativity, and theatre adds a natural experience of cooperation,” he notes.
