The cause and precise timing of the deaths of Karpinski, Wilbur and the children remain unclear, pending autopsy results from the state medical examiner's office in Boston and a final report from State Police, Berkshire County District Attorney Andrea Harrington has said.
Authorities believe Luke Karpinski, 41, murdered his wife, Justine Wilbur, also 41, and their three children before setting their house on fire and taking his own life.

A primary search revealed the presence of one individual who was dead. A secondary search revealed four additional individuals who were dead. Neither the names of the victims nor the causes of death were available for release on Wednesday, District Attorney Harrington said.
