Despite Sharon Playhouse’s ambition to do something different with a classic musical, it fails to dramatize what’s at the core of Meredith Willson’s text – a universal tale of fulfilling a dream.
“The play is about the struggles between those with grotesque wealth and the poor who are expected to work hard to keep them in the style to which they’ve become accustomed.”
-- Johnson Henshaw, artistic director of the Sharon Playhouse
“Minor Character” is a short play – under 90 minutes – which allows time after the performance for the audience to interact with the creative team whose work they have just experienced.
