“Increasing these benefits will help make sure seniors, families with children, and other residents can keep their homes warm during the coldest weeks of the year," said Gov. Maura Healey.
In the last few years, Stanton has guided the selectboard through the sale of the old Castle Street firehouse, the reconstruction of Main Street, and the approval for the conversion of the former Searles High School to an upscale 88-room hotel on Bridge Street.
Candidates representing support for the policies and direction of the Select Board and Town Manager prevailed over challengers who portrayed Great Barrington as in crisis, proclaiming the town needed “to be taken back.”
“If there was anything easy to cut it’s been cut,” says Abrahams of the school budget. “We’re not getting reimbursed at a high enough rate to cover expenses.”
