If I have sounded like a broken record these past months, it is because these developments in American public health are as important as they are horrifying.
The 2-1 vote against the facility perpetuates an odd disconnect: More than 75 percent of the town's residents — second highest percentage in the state — approved a statewide ballot initiative in 2013 legalizing marijuana for medicinal use.

Still, 76 percent of Becket voters endorsed medical marijuana during a statewide referendum -- the second highest percentage in the state.
