The Community Development Corporation of South Berkshire will hold its third annual Community at Bat charity softball game Sunday, September 8, at Memorial Field Park on Bridge Street.
As a genre, spoken-word poetry has its roots in oral traditions and performance. Spoken word can encompass or contain elements of rap, hip-hop, storytelling, theater, jazz, rock, blues and folk music.

After major renovations and re-orientation as a classic steakhouse, Number Ten restaurant has opened at the site of the former Castle Street Cafe in Great Barrington.
The grant, part of $12.6 million awarded to 51 projects in 24 states, is aimed at preserving sites and highlighting stories related to the African-American struggle for equality in the 20th century.
There are five sections on the poster: birth and childhood, familial ties, civil rights activism, a return to Great Barrington, and lasting impact. Photographs and captions accompany each section and there is a scannable QR code to learn more about Du Bois.
“Choosing the Path That Is Green” will be delivered by activist, community economist, author and member of the Ojibwe Nation of the Anishinaabe peoples Winona LaDuke.

Elaine went to NYU, completed her education at North Adams State and became a teacher. She taught third grade at Bryant Elementary School in Great Barrington. She went back to school and earned her M.Ed. at North Adams State.
To date, Clinton Church Restoration has raised just over half of the $100,000 needed to purchase the building and cover initial operating costs. The organization is under contract to purchase the decommissioned church with a deadline of Friday, March 31, to complete the transaction.
