For parents teaching their children to garden, it is hard to compete with the apps on their tablets and phones, such as “Farmville” and “Grow A Garden,” that grow plants and communities seemingly overnight.
Valerie Zantay, who taught previously at Mount Everett Regional School, collected some delicious edibles along with handwritten notes signed by dozens of Monument staff expressing solidarity and sympathy for their colleagues in Sheffield.
She was a vibrant 4-H leader to the Busy Kittens and the Hardworking Hornets, teaching the children the ways of homesteading including farming, sewing and cooking.
He was employed as a manager at Sheffield Plastics for 20 years. After retiring from there, he joined the Moritz family at Aquatic Designs of Sheffield for over 20 years.
