Mary was a well-respected Ombudsman at Kimball Farms through Elder Services of Berkshire County as well as Director of Volunteer Services of HospiceCare in the Berkshires.

Philip Boardman of Sheffield

Philip Boardman passed away Nov. 6 surrounded by his loving family and friends.

Joan H. Brown, 82, of Monterey

She had the opportunity to be the First Congregational Church Secretary and held that position until her retirement.  

Dorothy ‘Doris’ Shields, 99, of Great Barrington

A devout Catholic with unflappable faith, she was a communicant of St. Peter’s church, attending Mass until it became impossible for her to do so.

June A. Williamson, 69, of Great Barrington

In her youth she was a champion horseback rider winning many trophies on her horse, Smokey. Her participation in the Tri-State CB Radio Club earned her the nickname “Junebug” which stayed with her for the rest of her life.

Virginia S. Markham, 84, of Sheffield, Mass.

She attended local schools and went on to graduate from the former St. Luke’s Nursing School with a license as an LPN.

In the shadows of big brothers and sisters, very small buildings served important purposes and have stories to tell. Sometimes rich stories.

Officer Ryan A. Storti, 25, of the Great Barrington Police Department

Ryan took great pride in his work and believed strongly in the idea of being a Community Policeman. Ryan would always go above and beyond to help someone in need, especially if that person were a child.

John (Jack) Blume, 80, of Sheffield

He joined the Air Force in 1952 and served until 1956. He was a prisoner of war and received numerous medals.

Kelly L. Mercer, 53, of Pittsfield, formerly of Great Barrington

Kelly loved going to the movies and dining out with family and friends. She had a special place in her heart for children and animals.

Nancy S. Cobden, 74, of South Egremont

She attended Russell Sage College in Troy, N.Y. Mrs. Cobden worked as a newspaper writer, an advertising executive and a saleswoman for printing firms in the Hartford area.

Alexander Hryckvich, 89, of Sandisfield

He was a veteran of WW II and a member of the American Legion. He worked as a logger who ran a lumber mill in Sandisfield with his brother, Nick, for more than 50 years.

Mildred Sasso, 100, of Great Barrington

She and her husband started “Sasso Coffee” from their dining room in Brooklyn. They both roasted and ground their own personal blend serving hundreds of German ice cream parlors throughout New York and New Jersey.

James F. Barbieri, 82, of Great Barrington, owner of Barbieri Lumber Company

James began working on the family farm and saw mill located on Division Street in Great Barrington when he was young. Over the years the saw mill became Barbieri Lumber Company in Housatonic.

Dimitrios ‘Jimmy’ Kouloganes, 78, of Great Barrington

Dimitri was born on September 4, 1936, in Pellana, Greece, son of Panyiota and Panayioti. After graduating from the Gymnasium of Sparti, he immigrated to Stamford, Conn., and joined his father working to bring the family to America.
