As part of the award, Graham will study in New Zealand, joining the Museum and Heritage Practice master's program at Victoria University in Wellington. There she will explore how the museum sector supports education from kindergarten through 12th grade.
She retired at the age of 85, having taught physical education and computer science at Southern Berkshire Regional School District, Salisbury Central School and Farmington River Elementary School.
Participants will spend two to four afternoons per week working hands-on in the work world, on construction sites and working farms, earning both class credit and stipends, and learning skills in virtual and physical 'makerspaces.'
A former professional basketball player, Will Allen is now a practitioner of urban agriculture whose methods of composting, vermicomposting, and aquaponics result in remarkable yields of food in small growing areas.
Family-friendly Inside/Out performances will occur throughout Jacob's Pillow's Community Day, featuring local Berkshire County dance companies Olga Dunn Dance Company, Berkshire Pulse, Earthdance, dysFUNKcrew, Berkshire Dance Theatre, as well as a special collaboration between the Albany Berkshire Ballet and the Norman Rockwell Museum.
