By not feeling rushed this week, I took the time to teach myself a little something about goldenrod.

Entire communities within the cities through which the railroad system operated were founded by migrants from many countries. With thanks to “The American’s Book,” many of the progeny of those migrants rose to prominence in business, industry, and government.

Mary Jane Pignatelli, 94, of Lenox, teacher and lover of languages

Mary Jane worked as a high school language teacher, spending most of her 38-year career in the Lenox Public School system until her retirement in 1986. While best known as a French teacher, she also taught English and Latin.
