In a letter to the editor, Caroline Feather writes, 'More people would want to cycle for transport and not just recreation were they not afraid of being killed or maimed by motor vehicles.'
The Massachusetts Department of Transportation defines a complete street as "one that provides safe and accessible options for all travel modes - walking, biking, transit and vehicles – for people of all ages and abilities."
In 2014, 726 cyclists were killed on U.S. roads (8 in Massachusetts) and 50,000 were injured nationwide. Most fatalities happened in non-intersection crashes.
