As part of the award, Graham will study in New Zealand, joining the Museum and Heritage Practice master's program at Victoria University in Wellington. There she will explore how the museum sector supports education from kindergarten through 12th grade.
Marie Tassone had an interesting and colorful life, culminating in her designation by the board of selectmen as Great Barrington's "photographer laureate" in 1989, a year before her death at age 86.
The idea is to bring foreign students to enrich the experiences of current students at Mount Everett and, in the process, provide needed revenue to the school district and ultimately help boost district enrollments which have been dropping throughout the county.
For many years she owned and operated Berkshire Flower Co. on routes 7 and 20 in Pittsfield. A talented and gifted designer, she brought joy and comfort through her creations to so many over the years.
