“To me, Ruby is the ideal candidate for the Citizen of the Year,” Rotary Club member Bobbie Hallig told the audience. “She has always sought out ways to support the common good. Here, our mantra in Rotary is service above self. This mantra has been Ruby’s life and she has lived the Rotary’s mantra.”

The Mahaiwe is poised to eliminate all of its debt, including the theater’s mortgage, and establish its first cash reserve fund. This will provide a level of fiscal stability that is quite extraordinary in an arts organization of its age and size.

The world-class Chamber Players ensemble is made up of Boston- and Berkshire-based musicians who regularly perform with the Boston Symphony, Boston Pops, Spoleto Festival, and Portland Symphony, and who teach at the Tanglewood Music Center. Many have homes and close ties to our area.
