Highminded LLC has drafted a host agreement with the town of Great Barrington that includes the mandated annual $10,000 donation to a nonprofit of its choice. That gift will go to the Railroad Street Youth Project, which will also receive an additional 1 percent of net sales to fund a campaign against adolescent substance usage.
Monday's hearing looked as if it would be a barnburner, with neighboring property owners ready to oppose the airport's proposed addition of three new hangars, and another nearby property owner poised to suggest the airport was responsible for poisoning his drinking water.
Berkshire Aviation Enterprises Inc. is asking the town for a special permit for three new, prefabricated metal hangars 147 feet long by 50 feet wide, 18 parking spaces, a new taxi way and an access road off Seekonk Cross Road.
