MassDOT is recommending the school district construct an internal driveway that would send south-turning cars out to Monument Valley Road. The cost could be up to $1 million.
In the meantime, the state has installed mobile digital speed trailers on U.S. Route 7 at both the north and south approaches to the Berkshire Hills school campuses to slow traffic down.

Stewart Keith Dupuis, 62, suffered “serious injuries,” as he attempted to cross South Main Street in the vicinity of East Mountain Medical Center — near a crosswalk with a pedestrian light — at around 7:30 pm.
A fine young gentleman from Housatonic, Garrett Norton, 21, died tragically in an automobile accident. Worse still is the coverage of the accident by the local newspaper. Most difficult for me, and I hope for all of you, are the gratuitous pictures published under the guise of being part of a news story.
During a snowstorm, the driver was backing out of a driveway at her workplace at 220 North Plain Road. While waiting to pull out of the driveway onto Route 41, her car was struck by a Housatonic Railroad Company freight train heading south.
