Pittsfield — Jeremy Stanton, 38, of 122 Allengate Avenue has been charged in the murder of Ryan Babcock.
According to the Berkshire County District Attorney’s Office, Stanton was arrested on the evening of Wednesday, June 12 at a residence in Worthington.
He was arrested on unrelated outstanding warrants for violation of probation, assault with a dangerous weapon (a knife), and vandalizing property in an incident on June 2.
At around 4:30 p.m. on June 11 police officers responded to a report of a man suffering from potential gunshot wounds at the 500 block of Fenn Street.
When an officer arrived on the scene, they discovered Babcock, 38, of Pittsfield, unresponsive in the driver’s seat of a vehicle suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.
The officer called for assistance immediately, and while paramedics tried to save Babcock’s life, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to the Berkshire County District Attorney’s Office, Stanton entered a plea of not guilty and is being held without bail.
Law enforcement involved in Stanton’s apprehension include the Pittsfield Police Department, Berkshire County Law Enforcement Task Force: the Massachusetts State Police Detective Unit assigned to the Berkshire District Attorney’s Office; the Massachusetts State Police Detective Unit assigned to the Northwestern District Attorney’s Office; and Massachusetts State Police Violent Fugitive Apprehension Section.
