Susan Marie Le Geyt, 57, of Sheffield

Susan had been a Sunday school teacher for the Trinity United Methodist Church for several years, as well as a member of the church. She loved to volunteer for the Children’s Tent at the Sheffield Fair every year.

Sheffield – Susan Marie Le Geyt, 57, passed away at her home on April 30, 2022.

Born September 19, 1964 in Great Barrington, she was the first child of Richard and Betty Le Geyt.

Susan was very passionate about learning and was always open to learning new things any chance she got. She had a special interest in history, loved trying new crafts, gardening, puzzles and reading. She was involved in many things at the Sheffield Senior Center and had been a member of the Sheffield Historical Society.

She went to the University of Albany to get her Master’s degree in Library Science. She worked for both the Bushnell Sage Memorial Library in Sheffield and the Mason and Ramsdell Libraries in Great Barrington, always focusing on making sure they had the newest books available for the young adult section. There she encouraged reading in her daughter and other children her age. She also served as a volunteer EMT for the Southern Berkshire Volunteer Ambulance Squad and was a Camp Fire Leader for several years. She had been a Sunday school teacher for the Trinity United Methodist Church for several years, as well as a member of the church. She loved to volunteer for the Children’s Tent at the Sheffield Fair every year.

Susan was predeceased by her father, Richard Le Geyt.

She is survived by her daughter, Arielle (Greg) McLaughlin of East Haven, Conn., her mother, Betty Le Geyt, her two sisters, Lesley (Kevin) McLoughlin and their children, and Karen (Robert) Poulter and their children, all of Sheffield, as well as her brother Philip (Joanne) Le Geyt and their children all of Maine.

SERVICES – There will be no services at this time. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Diabetes Foundation or the Bushnell Sage Memorial Library in care of Finnerty & Stevens Funeral Home, 426 Main Street, Great Barrington, MA, 01230.
