Sundays at Ramsdell Library a big success

In a letter to the editor, Great Barrington Library Trustee Ed Abrahams writes: “Nearly 60 people came to use the [Ramsdell] library … on the first Sunday the library was open.”

To the Editor:

The first Ramsdell Sunday was a huge success. Thank you to everyone who made it possible: The Friends of the GB Libraries, my fellow Library Trustees and Selectboard members, and our hard-working Town Manager who pulled it all together.

And a special thank you to The Berkshire Edge and all the local press for helping us get the word out.

Nearly 60 people came to use the library, participate in a peer-led workshop on photography, watch a movie and mingle with friends. People talked, read quietly, shared newspapers and computers and did their homework.

This was the first of 11 Sundays (from 1-4 p.m.) our Housatonic library will be open. This Sunday, in honor of Martin Luther King, there will be a documentary about the music of the civil rights movement in addition to books, newspapers and conversation with your neighbors. We may also screen a few of Dr. King’s less known speeches.

I’m looking forward to 10 more warm, friendly winter Sundays in Housatonic.

Jamie Minacci has Stockbridge in her bones — please reelect her to the Select Board

Jamie Minacci understands that a strong Stockbridge adds to the strength of the Berkshires.

Why I will not be voting for Jamie Minacci for Stockbridge Select Board

It has become evident to me that the person I so strongly supported in her first election has acted in many ways contrary to how I had thought she would.

Vote for Lisa Sauer for Stockbridge Select Board

The difference between the two candidates was apparent at recent Select Board meetings where Lisa has been one of the first to go to the microphone and voice her opinions.
