Students in Mount Everett’s Sea and Air Robotics class visit Great Barrington Airport and explore careers in aviation

During a field trip to the Great Barrington Airport on Thursday, April 13, students in Mount Everett's Sea and Air Robotics class were able to test their knowledge of aviation that they gained at Mount Everett using their classroom flight simulator.

Sheffield – On Thursday, April 13, students enrolled in the Sea and Air Robotics class at Mount Everett Regional School had the chance to visit the Great Barrington Airport, where they were able to test their knowledge of aviation gained while using their classroom flight simulator.

“We would like to thank Joe Solan and his team at the Great Barrington Airport for taking the time to talk to our students about the basic mechanics of flight, and airplane controls,” said Superintendent Dr. Beth Regulbuto. “Students even had the opportunity to sit in the pilot’s seat and explore the inside of an aircraft.”

The Sea and Air Robotics class is an introductory course for any Mount Everett student interested in learning more about advanced manufacturing or engineering. The class offers students the ability to learn about engineering design processes and programming. The class is just one of the courses that will be part of the Innovation Career Pathways technical course offerings. Innovation Career Pathways is one way SBRSD is providing high-quality technical and vocational opportunities to Mount Everett students. Students will be able to apply to Innovation Career Pathways as early as this spring.

“Innovation Career Pathways will not only offer students unique vocational and technical courses, but it will also provide students with industry-recognized credentials such as OSHA and C++ certifications,” said Early College Internship Coordinator Lindy Marcel. “Our goal is to provide students at Mount Everett with hands-on learning experiences and help them grow and foster professional connections with our local businesses.”
