Stuart Lee Shapiro, 74, of Lenox

There will be a graveside service held on Wednesday, September 11, 2024, at 12 p.m., in Mountain View Cemetery in Lenox. There will be no calling hours.

Stuart Lee Shapiro, 74, of Lenox, died peacefully on Saturday, September 7, at Berkshire Medical Center. Born on December 3, 1949, in Waterbury, Conn., to the late Sidney and Ruth (Kastleman) Shapiro, he graduated Classical High School in the class of 1967.

After high school, Stuart attended Northeastern University, where he received his Bachelor of Science in pharmacy, then attended Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, where he received his Master’s of Science in management, and went to Western New England College getting his Master’s in business administration.

Stuart worked at multiple pharmacies throughout Massachusetts and Connecticut, including Louis and Clark, Brooks Pharmacy, Rite Aid, Somers Pharmacy, Arthur Drug, and the Lenox Village Pharmacy until his retirement in 2023. He enjoyed baseball, senior trips, traveling, West Stockbridge Grange, and spending time with family.

Mr. Shapiro married Janiece Wichmann on June 3, 1977.

Besides his wife Janiece of Great Barrington, he leaves his children, John Harris of Pittsfield, Jennifer Ricard (Alain) of Winston Salem, N.C., David Shapiro (Pamela) of West Hartford, Conn., and Eric Shapiro (Heather) of Southwick, Mass.; his grandchildren, John Henri Pettit-Harris, Gary Harris, Andrew Harris, Donald Smith, Alexander and Janiece Ricard, Drew and Mason Shapiro, Katelyn, Kimberly, Cameron Shapiro, and Jacob Obriskie; seven great-grandchildren; his twin brother Steven Shapiro (Lynne) of Glastonbury, Conn.; his niece Rachel Lauren; his nephew Mark; his younger brother Todd Shapiro (Gwen) of Bradenton, Fla.; his niece Meredith; and his nephew Braeden.

There will be a graveside service held on Wednesday, September 11, 2024, at 12 p.m., in Mountain View Cemetery in Lenox. There will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, donations in Stuart’s memory may be made to West Stockbridge Grange in care of the Roche Funeral Home, 120 Main Street, Lenox, MA 01240.
