Stephanie Anne Sylvester, 46, of Great Barrington

Stephanie dedicated her life to the rescue, rehab, care, and love of animals great and small. They all felt her gentle kindness and thrived in her care.

Stephanie Anne Sylvester, 46, of Great Barrington physically left this world on December 19, 2020 following a brief illness at Fairview Hospital.

She was born in Dunedin, Florida May 18, 1974, the daughter of Richard L. and Suzanne Sylvester. She grew up in Great Barrington and attended local schools, graduating from MMRHS in 1992.

Despite years of compromised health, Stephanie overcame the greatest obstacles with great spirit and a sense of humor. She celebrated 7 years of sobriety in August with a sense of pride.

Stephanie dedicated her life to the rescue, rehab, care, and love of animals great and small. They all felt her gentle kindness and thrived in her care.

She loved horse racing, UConn women’s basketball, the beach and, most of all, her family and animals.

Stephanie is predeceased by her father Richard, her grandparents, her friend Steve, her dear cousin Mike, and her beloved horse Cara.

She leaves her mother and best friend, Suzanne, her loving partner, Brendan Wade, her Uncle Joe and Aunt Cheryl Gerard, cousins Kristine and Laura, her Aunt Judy Morse, adopted Aunt Gerry McQuoid, her horses Lucas and Jethro, Wilfork the steer, Noah the pig, Ziva her kitty, Kia Mria the trick chicken, and all the rest of her critters.

A celebration of Stephanie’s life will be held when the sun warms the valley in the spring, amidst her animals on the farm that she loved. Until then, we will hold her in our hearts and prayers.

Donations in Stephanie’s memory may be made to Old Friend’s Equine Rescue, 1841 Paynes Depot Road, Georgetown, Kentucky in care of Birches-Roy Funeral Home, 33 South Street, Great Barrington MA 01230. Condolences may be made through birchesroyfuneralservices.com.
