State Rep. Leigh Davis announces $6.7 million in state funds for 3rd Berkshire District for various projects

The funds will come from the state’s Community One Stop for Growth program.

Berkshire County — Through her social media accounts on Thursday, November 6, State Rep. Leigh Davis (D – 3rd Berkshire District) received funds from the state’s Community One Stop for Growth program.

According to the state’s website, the program is “the main vehicle for public economic development investment in the Commonwealth” and intends to boost local housing, economic development, and infrastructure programs.

According to Davis, the following projects were funded:

  • Great Barrington: $500,000 for the Prosperity Way Housing Project;
  • Great Barrington: $500,000 for an interconnection facility to support the town’s  Fire Department and Housatonic Water Works water systems;
  • Becket: $1 million for Leonhardt Road repairs;
  • Becket: $500,000 for a culvert replacement at Benton Hill Road;
  • Egremont: $100,000 for site work for a Community Development Corporation of Southern Berkshires (CDCSB) housing project;
  • Lee:$200,000 for sidewalk repairs;
  • Lee: $50,000 to support the town’s Vacant Storefront Program;
  • Lenox: $1.68 million for infrastructure improvements at 238 Pittsfield Road;
  • Lenox: $50,000 for a zoning study;
  • New Marlborough: $1 million for repairs to Norfolk Road;
  • New Marlborough: $750,000 for Cassilis Farm’s housing project;
  • Otis: $70,000 for updating the town’s Master Plan;
  • Otis: $25,000 for town revitalization;
  • Sandisfield: $164,000 to rebuild Dodd Road;
  • Sheffield: $100,000 to create a new Comprehensive Plan, Open Space and Recreation Plan.

The house fire killed residents Venture Hazard, 76, and Donald Hazard, 83. Their son Darius Hazard has been charged with arson and two counts of murder after he confessed to starting the house fire and physically assaulting his parents.
