New Marlborough — Members of the State Police’s Special Tactical Operations Team (STOP) executed a search warrant during the morning hours of Tuesday, Jan. 31.
According to State Police Media Communications Director Dave Procopio, the search warrant was executed at a residence in the vicinity of the 1000 block of Cross Road to Canaan Valley in support of an ongoing investigation by local police.
Members of the Berkshire County State Police Detective Unit are assisting in the investigation.
Procopio would not reveal any further details and referred all further questions to the New Marlborough Police Department and the Berkshire County District Attorney’s Office.
The Berkshire Edge has contacted both the Police Department and the District Attorney’s Office and has not received a response as of press time for this article.
According to the state’s website, the STOP Team “…is a rigorously trained and specially equipped tactical unit charged with executing some of the most dangerous law enforcement missions conducted by the Massachusetts State Police and its partner local and federal agencies. Among STOP’s missions are execution of high-risk search and arrest warrants, resolution of situations involving armed barricaded suspects or hostages, and searches for armed suspects, often in challenging environments.”
