Carl Sprague requests support for election to Stockbridge Planning Board

In a letter to the editor, Carl Sprague writes, "I believe that while we may argue the details, we share a collective vision for Stockbridge."

To the editor:

The Stockbridge town election is Tuesday, June 9. I am running for a seat on the Stockbridge Planning Board. I thank those who already pledged support and would be honored by all who vote for me.

My reason for putting my name forward is my long-term respect and affection for this community. I think my experience working with the town, its people and its organizations will contribute to building the future of Stockbridge. I served on the boards of the Stockbridge Land Trust, Laurel Hill Association, Mahkeenac Boat Club, Albany Berkshire Ballet, Berkshire Film and Media Commission, historic preservation commission, draft committee for the Historic Preservation Bylaw, and Zoning Bylaw Review Committee.

Stockbridge is a uniquely beautiful community, built by generations of extraordinary citizens. Today, thanks to them, Stockbridge is a special place, drawing people from all over the world. We are blessed by the careful planning work of the past. Now we are at an interesting moment. The long-term effects of the pandemic recession have yet to be registered. Development proposals are underway. Bylaw review is on the table. All will have long-ranging effects on our community. We will carry forward.

In my work with the historic preservation commission, we have been advising the planning board for close to 20 years. I was part of the ad hoc committee that originally drafted our successful Historic Preservation Bylaw. I also served for two years on the recent Zoning Bylaw Review Committee, laying the groundwork for the zoning revision that has now moved on to the next stage with the planning board. I would like to continue my contribution to that process.

I believe that while we may argue the details, we share a collective vision for Stockbridge. I ask for your support so together we can go forward and plan the Stockbridge of tomorrow.

Flashing red-light warning

Jamie Minacci does not truly represent Stockbridge residents.

A response to Denny Alsop’s Letter to the Editor

Sadly, this is just the latest example of the lies and distortions that the small group of opponents of a well-planned project that will benefit every single taxpayer in Stockbridge will go to with their opposition.
