To the editor:
At the rather quiet diner where I was having dinner last night with my wife, after reading The Edge’s latest article about The Foundry special permit meeting, I took out my dB meter (doesn’t everyone carry one of these?) and determined that, regardless of whether one uses the A or C weighting, the typical SPL (sound pressure level) was between the high 60s and middle 70s, spiking in the low 80s when the server came by to talk to us.
Given the recommendations described in your article, the audience conversation before any show will easily violate the proposed maximums.
