Shirlee Mae Tucker, 86, of West Stockbridge



A talented artist, Shirlee produced many paintings enjoyed by her family and the local community.

Shirlee Mae Tucker, 86, of East Alford Road, West Stockbridge died on November 22, 2022 at Fairview Commons Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Great Barrington. She had been a patient there since her house burned down in 2014. A lifelong resident of the West Center neighborhood of West Stockbridge, Shirlee was born in 1936 to Earl I. Tucker and Beulah E. (Kinne) Tucker and attended school in the town.

A talented artist, Shirlee produced many paintings enjoyed by her family and the local community. She was mentored by renowned artist Harry Lane (1891-1973), who had a home and studio in West Stockbridge.

Shirlee loved cats and fostered many, an affinity she shared with her close friend and neighbor, Marthel Homan. She enjoyed the outdoors and walking in the woods with family and friends.

Shirlee Tucker is survived by her nephews, Peter Tucker of Alford and James Tucker of Ventura, Calif., and many grandnephews and grandnieces. She was preceded in death by her siblings, Kenneth Tucker, Roy Tucker, and Mildred Pepino; her niece, Janice Schneider; and her nephew, Jeffrey Lashoones.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Berkshire Humane Society or the West Stockbridge Fire Department in care of Finnerty and Stevens Funeral Home, 426 Main Street, Great Barrington, MA 01230.

The funeral for Mr. Francis T. Duke will be held on Friday, May 16, at 11 a.m., at Trinity Church in Lenox, with Rev. Michael Tuck officiating. Burial will be private in Corashire Cemetery in Monterey. There will be no calling hours.
