Pittsfield — Two people were seriously hurt in a motor vehicle rollover accident on Sunday, December 14.
According to Department Sergeant David Hallas, emergency departments including the police, fire, and County Ambulance were all called for a report of a motor vehicle accident in the vicinity of 469 Peck Road.
Upon arrival, responding officers found two occupants of the Toyota Corolla, ages 20 and 21, ejected from the vehicle.
The investigation into the accident showed that the driver of the vehicle traveled southbound on Peck Road at a high rate of speed before losing control of the vehicle, then striking and breaking a utility pole, then striking two vehicles parked in a driveway before the car rolled over at least twice, ejecting both occupants of the car.
The occupants, who have not been identified by the Police Department, were both transported to Berkshire Medical Center.
Both occupants sustained life-threatening injuries, and one of the two passengers was transferred to Bayside Medical Center in Springfield.
Peck Road was closed for five hours between Thomas Island Road and Bromback Street and the accident was investigated and cleared up.
The accident remains under investigation, and witnesses to the accident or the vehicle travelling on Pecks Road before the accident are asked to contact Sergeant David Hallas at 413-448-9700 Ext. 560 or Officer Matthew Farnham at Ext. 531.
