Great Barrington Selectboard approves Price Chopper liquor license

This was the third time the company applied for a liquor license from the town.

Great Barrington —  At the Monday, Dec. 4 Selectboard meeting, the board approved the liquor license for the town’s Price Chopper store at 300 Stockbridge Road.

The vote was 3-1, with Selectboard Chair Steve Bannon, Vice Chair Leigh Davis, Selectboard member Ben Elliott voting to grant the liquor license, while Selectboard member Eric Gabriel voted against granting the license.

Selectboard member Garfield Reed recused himself from the vote, just like he did the two previous votes because he is an employee of the Plaza Package Store on State Road.

This was the third time the company applied for a liquor license from the town.

During the public hearing about the license, a large majority of residents spoke in favor of the company obtaining the license.

A full story about the vote will be published in tomorrow’s Berkshire Edge.
