SEIU 509 endorses Leigh Davis for state representative

“SEIU members are the backbone of our community support networks, the professionals we trust to care for us and keep us safe, often when we are most vulnerable," said Davis.

Great Barrington — Leigh Davis announced Thursday, August 8, that she has earned the endorsement of Service Employees International Union 509 for her candidacy for state representative of the 3rd Berkshire District. SEIU 509 represents nearly 20,000 human-service workers and educators throughout Massachusetts, including mental-health clinicians, social workers, early childhood educators, and university lecturers.

“I am grateful and honored that SEIU 509, representing human-services workers in Massachusetts, has endorsed me as their champion in the 3rd Berkshire District,” said Davis. “SEIU members are the backbone of our community support networks, the professionals we trust to care for us and keep us safe, often when we are most vulnerable. As state representative, I will support SEIU’s pursuit of fair wages, safe working conditions, equal opportunities for advancement, and social and economic equity.”

This announcement follows Davis’s endorsements by 1199 SEIU United Healthcare Workers East, Planned Parenthood Advocacy Fund, Massachusetts AFL-CIO, Massachusetts Nurses Association, Progressive Mass, and the 1866 Action Fund.

Leigh Davis is the vice chair of the Great Barrington Selectboard, communications director at Construct, a 1Berkshire board director, and a member of the Lake Mansfield Improvement Task Force and the W.E.B. Du Bois Legacy Committee. To learn more about Leigh, visit her campaign’s website.
