Sarah ‘Sally’ Schuler, 87, of Stockbridge

She was an elementary school teacher for many years in the Berkshire Hills Regional School District.

Sarah “Sally” Waibel Schuler, 87, passed away peacefully at the Landing at Laurel Lake Nov. 11, 2020. She was an elementary school teacher for many years in the Berkshire Hills Regional School District. She loved opera and traveling the world. Sally was a big reader and fan of “Jeopardy!”

Sarah Schuler was born January 19, 1933, in Painted Post, New York, to Anthony Waibel and Mary Sayles Waibel. She graduated from State University of New York at Cortland with a bachelor’s degree in education. Later she earned her master’s degree at State University of New York at Albany. In 1965 she and Al moved to Interlaken Cross Road in Stockbridge, where they raised their family.

She is survived by son Thomas Schuler and daughters Jennifer Schuler Plum, Margaret Schuler and Maribeth Schuler Forbes. She was predeceased by her husband. Albert Schuler. and daughter Julie Schuler Harrington. She is also survived by her nine grandchildren: Bryce Schuler, Morgan Schuler, Caitlin Wolf, Bridget Forbes, Maggie Forbes, Andrew Plum, Elisabeth Plum, Jonathan Harrington, Cameron Harrington and Laurel Harrington; and two great-grandchildren: Nicholas and Kennedy Wolf. She is also survived by brothers William Waibel and Richard Waibel, and beloved niece Cathy Hesse. She was predeceased by her sister Mary Waibel Morse.

A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, Nov. 18, at Saint Joseph’s Church in Stockbridge. Due to seating limitations, the family welcomes attendees to the graveside service thereafter at approximately 11 a.m. at Saint Joseph’s Cemetery in Stockbridge. Masks are required and all COVID-19 guidelines will be followed.

A small, intimate gathering for close family and friends will be held at Birches-Roy Funeral Home on Monday March 9, from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. A private burial will follow at St. Peter’s Cemetery.
